Construction

Barrocka is one of the best examples of the popular Waterline 1480 design from the desk of Jeff Schionning.

Barrocka was constructed from ATL Durakore end grain balsa, West epoxies and E Glass laminates by Craig Schionning, Brett Schionning, Andrew Crick and the owner, Tim Cuthbertson. Considerable extra design effort was put into the vessel at the building stage, resulting in a work-of-art that has efficiency of function. Craig & Andrew work on Bridgedeck

The mast was constructed by the same build team, from vacuum bagged carbon laminates over a 4mm Oregon skin, resulting in a spar with a chord of 500mm but only half the weight of an aluminium spar. The boom is also composite.
Minor bulkheads and internal furniture are constructed from ATL Featherlight. The vessel is finished in Teak, NZ Rimu and Rimu veneers. Master craftsman at work
